In Between Days of May
May felt like a reminder to slow down, accept, and just be here.
1. Began May with Lana Del Rey in my ears. Having her in my playlist turned even the simplest routines into something more reflective, like I was moving through a memory rather than just another day.
2. Band gig for When We Were Young Night. We played as the last band and truly enjoyed the songs throughout the night. We were also jamming along to the earlier performances, especially when New Found Glory and Blink-182 songs were played.
3. A simple Mother’s Day with my family. We baked fish and a shared cake at dinner. What made the day extra special was reading the cards from my kids. I loved every word.
4. One morning, I spotted two birds. The larger one, the biggest I’d seen, was chasing a smaller bird from branch to branch, tree to tree.
5. We spent an evening making homemade pizza for dinner.
6. One day, we went to the river to do laundry because the well water had dropped in the summer heat.
7. I thought about Magical Doremi and wanted to revisit it, but it’s not available to watch.
8. We watched Kemono Jihen instead, and together with my kids, we finished all 12 episodes of Season 1.
9. I was able to complete an animation titled Birdhouse Neighborhood.
10. One Sunday, we spent the day flying a kite, with Choco bread and corn tubes for snacks. The wind was strong, making it feel so summery and peaceful. I spotted a tree with gentle, blooming flowers along the way.
This May, I’m learning to accept more and live in the present.
