The City Gave Me Signs: Messages Hidden in the Streets

I went to the city to grab some school supplies for my kids and a few groceries, but something unexpected happened.
While riding and following the street signs, I started giving them a different meaning, thankfully, in a positive way. While following the street signs, I began seeing them differently, like they were sending me little messages.
I had been thinking a lot about moving forward with creating my art, making videos, or doing anything that could fill my soul. Then, as I read the signs, it felt like they were guiding me, offering direction and encouragement.
It made me feel really good, and now, reading street signs will never be the same.
That’s just how I am sometimes. I tend to find meaning in almost everything.
I never imagined street signs could make me smile every time I saw them.
That day, I planned to randomly record a video in the city. I wasn’t working on anything specific, just looking for shots and video clip elements I could use in future projects. With no clear direction, I started filming outside the bank.
There, I was drawn to the shadows. The leaves of a nearby tree were casting delicate shapes on the ground, swaying softly in the afternoon light. It was simple, but it felt meaningful. Like nature was adding a quiet touch to the everyday scene.

As I watched the shadows of the leaves sway across the ground, I realized how often life’s most meaningful moments pass quietly, soft, shifting, and easy to miss unless we choose to see them.
While inside the bank, withdrawing some cash, I caught sight of a woman pushing a trash bin and carrying a broom, part of the street cleaning team. There was something grounding in that moment, a reminder of the people who help keep the city going behind the scenes.

I was riding on my partner’s motorcycle, which let me hold my camera and catch little snippets along the way. As we headed downtown, we stopped at a red light. That’s when I started noticing the signs.
Literally. More than ten of them in just a short stretch. Street signs, business signs, public notices, street tags, all with words that, in that moment, felt like tiny encouragements scattered around the city.

And so, I started giving them meaning. Maybe they weren’t just signs meant for traffic or advertising. Maybe, for me that day, they were quiet little messages. Reminders to pause, to keep going, or simply to notice more.

A quiet nudge from the universe: this way.
There’s no map , only signs.

It’s okay to rest before the next move. Pausing doesn’t always mean stopping; sometimes, it’s simply a safe space to gather strength, and you’re allowed to take that break.

It’s amazing what you can find when you’re not looking for anything in particular.
Funny how something as ordinary as street signs can leave you inspired.
These street signs hit different that day. Have you ever seen something ordinary but felt like it was speaking to you?
What’s a sign (literal or symbolic) you’ve seen that felt like it was guiding you?
Signs aren’t just for directions, they sometimes deliver messages we didn’t know we needed.
